Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the life blood of our foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

We have a dedicated, team of volunteers and we are always recruiting due to increasing demand for our services. We want volunteering with us to be both enjoyable and rewarding; there are lots of ways to get involved, from meeting clients to helping in our office. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to local families in crisis.

Volunteer vacancies are normally launched from this page.  Opportunities will be added as they arise, so do check back if none currently available. New roles are also advertised on social media, so remember to follow us.

Starting to volunteer could not be easier; just follow the steps below.

WHERE CAN I HELP?

Our current vacancies are available via a link here when we are recruiting under normal circumstances – however there is no active link currently for multiple volunteer vacancies (but see the link immediately below for a single foodbank volunteer opportunity in South Queensferry);

If you would like to help but don’t see anything that suits or have skills such as IT or accountancy you would like to use please contact our Volunteer Manager (volunteers@edinburghfoodproject.org) or call 0131 444 0030.

BECOME A TRUSTEE

Edinburgh Food Project is overseen by the Board of Trustees, who have overall responsibility and accountability for everything the charity does. The Board consist of 12 individual volunteers (unpaid) who bring an array of skills and experience to help set the charities strategic direction and ensure good governance. Trustees have an opportunity to significantly contribute towards Edinburgh Food Project’s mission:

”To provide emergency food supplies and support to people in crisis, while working with people, communities, and our partner agencies to address the underlying causes of food poverty.”
