DONATE FOOD

Our foodbank relies on your goodwill and support.

Over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks in The Trussell Trust network is donated by the public – that’s why your food donations are absolutely vital to our ability to give everyone referred to us a balanced and nutritious three-day supply of food.

Our shopping list shows the food items that we need right now.

DONATION POINT LOCATIONS

Collection points for donations are available at the following locations, alternatively donations may be dropped at our warehouse: Unit 12 New Lairdship Yards, EH11 3UY

Amazon Wish List

We have an Amazon Wish List to make it easier for people to support Edinburgh Food Project from afar.

For Common Good List

This is a zero-waste platform that collates donations and will be dispatched in bulk to minimize excess packaging. This new platform has a good mix of food and hygiene items at a stable price.  If you would like to help EFP remotely this is an excellent method.

We always welcome donations and promise to use them to provide help to people in crisis. Occasionally we send food to other nearby foodbanks to support their work particularly if they experience shortages. This ensures your donations go to help people wherever in the UK they are.

Please contact us if you have any questions about donating.

Food Items We Can't Take

Bottles of water*, very large bags or boxes**, opened, used or out-of-date items, fresh or frozen food, and alcohol

*Although water is an essential, alongside our food parcels it becomes too heavy for clients to carry, we are frequently left with an excessive amount of bottled water.

**e.g. 1kg bags of pasta/rice and 1,000 boxes of tea bags. Whilst these are essential items which do we put in our parcels, they are too large for many clients to carry home. Due to the changes in food standard legislation we are no longer able to split these items.

Hold Your Own Food Collection

While a large amount of our donations come from Supermarket collection points, we are also lucky to be supported by a number of local Community groups, Churches, Schools, and businesses that host their own food collections.

If you would like to host your own food collection check out ‘How To’ guide, and our poster templates.
